2023 Lake and Park Update

The Heather Lakes community offers a great common grounds for the residents to enjoy. This includes a stocked pond, a paved walking trail, and green space for residents to enjoy. In order to keep this a special place for the neighborhood, we must also take care of it. Currently, we have a common ground committee that helps support/maintain the natural beauty of the lake while at the same time making it a place we can all enjoy. A few of the recent activities that have occurred around the lake are installing newly painted posts, a painted walk-way sign, spraying for weeds along the path, as well as off of the path, treating trees for aphids, caring for the newly planted river birches, working to eradicate a muskrat problem, cutting down a dead tree, and continued maintenance on the aerator. Upcoming activities include adding an additional fishing entrance, clearing out overgrown drainage areas,  adding gravel to a muskrat run, and cleaning up the front entrances. If you would like to be a part of this committee please contact myself (Rita Mitchell, 330-984-2660).

Current committee:

  • Tom Nutini

  • Carol Scott

  • Doug Shaffer

  • Brian Collins

Finally, as we know, trespassing can be an issue when it comes to fishing at the pond. Recently, we have had incidents that have led to involving the Sheriff's department. Please remember that all guests should be accompanied by a resident. At a minimum, they should be able to contact the resident if needed to prove authorization. I wish it did not have to come to this but there have been serious occurrences that have needed to be addressed. Please remember our pond has a catch and release policy.

I love seeing families enjoying this area and I hope that it continues for years to come. If you have any questions, concerns or ideas please feel free to reach out. I would love to hear from you!
